About Paddy

The use of the classic Irish name Paddy in this story is a pseudonym for Marty Martin (Warren, Pop Pop, Dr. Martin). He grew up in New York City, where he attended St. Stephen's of Hungary Elementary School and Power Memorial Academy High School.

Marty joined the Army in 1975 where he served twenty-one years. He met his wife Debbie and they had three wonderful children and were a globetrotting military family. During his career in the Army, Marty served in the Infantry, Military Police and caught the bug to jump out of perfectly good airplanes and volunteered for Special Forces (Green Berets).

After retiring from the Army in 1996, Marty transitioned to business, working for Domino’s Pizza Corporation and later a Domino’s franchise business owner. Marty earned his Ph.D. in Business Administration and Organizational Leadership from North Central University and an MBA from the University of Michigan (Go Blue). He transitioned to teaching at Bryan University, Norwich University, and Southern New Hampshire University.

Marty is an award-winning writer of fiction, non-fiction, and Children’s books. As a Grandparent he has a Children's book series based on his experiences with his grandchildren “Adventures with Pop Pop”.

Marty is a member of numerous writing organizations including the St. Louis Publishers Association, the St. Louis Writers’ Guild, Sisters in Crime, the Military Writers Society of America, and has served as President of the Missouri Writers’ Guild and the St. Louis Publishers Association.

In 2022, Marty suffered a stroke and wrote a book about the recovery and rehabilitation process and provides guidance and support to Stroke victims and their families.

Marty lives with his wife Debbie Kay in St. Louis, Missouri.
